Dutch/Italian company Hotbath – specialized in high quality Italian bathroom taps – was acquired by the Swedish FM Mattsson Mora Group, the market leader in taps in the Nordic countries. Hogenhouck advised the founder and shareholder of Hotbath.
Market leadership pays off
Hotbath was founded 12 years ago by Erwin Liesting. Erwin about this sale: “This deal marks an exciting new chapter in the Hotbath story and I believe FM Mattsson Mora Group is the best possible home for the business and the team here who have grown Hotbath from humble beginnings to a market-leader in the Netherlands over the last 12 years.” Hotbath will operate as a free-standing business unit within the Group and be led by current Managing Director Marius Visser and receive strategic guidance from the founder Erwin Liesting.
Creating value with product portfolio
Hotbath started as an import and trade firm. With its focus on taps it has created a valuable position in the market, Hein Stoops, partner Hogenhouck, advised the seller in this transaction: “Hotbath is a unique company with a strong portfolio and outstanding design. Together with a clear sales channel approach and outsourcing the production to quality manufacturers, they ensure a high quality brand experience. This now results in a strong valuation of the company.”
Geographical expansion
Future plans for Hotbath include continuing sales development in the Netherlands, sales to new markets under the Hot Bath brand and potentially the utilisation of the Hotbath supply chain within the wider Group. For FM Mattsson Group, Hotbath is an excellent strategic fit with their current geographic footprint and product portfolio.
