Urban Gym Group acquires Amsterdam based Gustav Gym

Urban Gym Group has acquired both locations of Gustav Gym in Amsterdam on January 2, 2020.

“It is our ambition to become the market leader in the centres of Netherlands’ large cities”, say Urban Gym Group owners Han Doorenbosch and Marjolijn Meijer. “The acquisition of the two leading clubs of Gustav Gym is another step towards that goals. We will keep the qualities of Gustav Gym and will add the benefits of Urban Gym Group in due course.”

During the summer of 2020, the Gustav Gym location at Amsterdam Zuidas will be restyled to a Clubsportive location and the location in Amsterdam city centre will become a TrainMore location. Former owners of Gustav Gym, Jeroen Timmerman and Pieter Pleunis, will remain on board during a transition period. Pleunis: “We are proud that our locations will be part of the innovative and successful Urban Gym Group. We will ensure a smooth transition for our current and new members.”

The Urban Gym Group – with fitness concepts TrainMore, Clubsportive and High Studios – will open an additional three clubs in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Groningen during the first quarter of 2020. Urban Gym Group will then grow to 23 locations in total.
